An ordained minister, Reverend Silmar has worked as a hospice chaplain for Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida. In this capacity, she traveled throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties, bringing spiritual counseling and support to Hospice patients and their families, as well as performing funeral and memorial ceremonies for them. In addition, she has had many years’ experience as a loss and bereavement counselor.
The Reverend's experience also includes being “the” oncall chaplain at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami,
Florida, where she received her Clinical Pastoral Education, as well as field work in nursinghome visitations, through Pastoral Care, Inc., and under the supervision of the ACPE. Her former training for the ministry began with two years of intensive studies and practicum at The New Seminary. Its ministerial curriculum encompasses all of the world's religions, faiths and peoples.
